Daily Dew Devotional – TUESDAY December 9, 2025 -THEME: FINISHING STRONG

Finishing Strong in Humility

1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV):
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”

In this verse, the Apostle Peter provides guidance on humility and reliance on God’s timing. This calls for believers to “humble themselves” before God. This humility is an acknowledgment of our dependence on Him and recognition of His sovereignty. It is an attitude that places God above oneself and fosters a spirit of submission to His will. It is important to bear in mind that God has control over all circumstances, and His plans are ultimately for our good.

The latter part of the verse assures believers that if they humble themselves, God will “exalt you in due time.” This means that God will elevate or honour them at the right moment, in accordance with His perfect timing. It encourages patience and trust, reminding believers that while trying to finish strong, true honour comes from God rather than self-promotion.

1 Peter 5:6 serves as a profound reminder of the importance of humility in the Christian life. It encourages believers to trust in God’s timing and authority, assuring them that He is aware of their struggles and will lift them up when the time is right. So, submit to God’s timing and trust His process! Do remember this: humility positions us to rely on God’s strength rather than our own, ensuring a strong finish. Walk in humility, trusting that God will exalt you in due time!

QUOTE:
“True humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. It is a life fully surrendered to the greatness of God.” — Rick Warren

PRAYER:
Gracious God, we humble ourselves before Your mighty hand, trusting that in Your perfect time, You will lift us up. Teach us to walk in humility, placing others before ourselves and serving with a heart like Christ’s. Remove any pride that stands in the way of Your purpose, and help us to finish strong. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
